Guest Artist

Last month I ventured out to Lawrence, KS to enjoy their art districts Final Fridays Art Crawl. Winding in and out, from building to building, I met an artist/curator named Emily Kate. She introduced me to her Dinner Party Project. Collaborating with a local chef to create a dinner party that exhibits work from over 20 national artists. An ingenious idea that set the perfect ambiance and opportunity to showcase the story behind the art. Being moved, I invited Emily Kate to the West Bottoms Art Society to learn more.

Once Emily Kate arrived, I showed her around our Art Parlor & Tattoo Shop as we discussed mine & my husbands inspirations & aspirations to do our part to help revitalize the West Bottoms district & continue to bring art appreciation by supporting our local friends, as well as recognizing the distant talents. After, we quickly set out on a footed introduction to the West Bottoms district of KC. We oohed over the 12th Street bridge architecture, admired graffiti filled alleys, & dreamed of the artistic possibilities that could occupy the abandoned warehouses. Once we worked up a great thirst, we headed over to Little Freshie, in the West side District, for a handcrafted shrub & a Dolce Baking Company scone, to finish our talk on future Dinner Party plans & ideas.

Once refreshed, we hit up the KC Crossroads to continue the days adventures. Hitting all the hot art spots, we ended our day at Hammerpress.  Excitedly fingering through each print and every letterpressed card... appreciating the local's hand poured candles & thoughtfully crafted scents... not wanting to leave, but having to go.

It was a fun filled, inspiring day. Hopefully, sooner than later, you can expect to see Emily Kate's art at the West Bottoms Art Society. We will keep you updated on our next exhibition & First Fridays artist! Meanwhile, checkout Emily Kate's Dinner Party Project!

Tattoo of the Day

Well, it was an incredible turnout for the event this weekend, but, its back to business today!  A great friend and long time client from Colorado came up with a friend for just the day to get tattooed.
